Both look very nice but the question is are your fenders in good enough shape to go with gloss black which shows every little imperfection. The curves of our fat fenders are unforgiving.

I vote black fenders, but I guess I'm a little prejudice

The fenders are black, just not on yet.

Pete - very valid point. I definitely don’t think they are perfect. I will pull them out and take a closer look.
Thanks

I think it depends on the look you are going for. I would expect to see a commercial logo on the door of something with red cab and black fenders. That's because I grew up around a lot of trucks and all the commercial haulers that came to the farm with needle nose Kenworths had black fenders and a different colored cab. That is just my take on it. As said above both examples are very good looking.

Your truck looks great. Black will add a distinctive look as I have seen few two-tone trucks at car shows. I also believe it adds a more commercial-use appearance. You can never go wrong with solid red. Listen to your heart.

I'd just like to say, be sure to paint the grille panel a softly contrasting colour to the fenders, which also compliments the main body colour. The entire shape of the truck needs that section to contrast to bring out the form, and it bugs me to high hell when people paint it solid colour and that entire central shape just gets fuzzy around the edges and the whole thing breaks down. A nice warm cream that gels with the red and softly contrasts the black would be my bet.

Has anyone suggested amber or orange? No?

Tom your truck looks great. I like the lighter grill also, I think that’s the way I’m going.

Hey Zac,
The Red & Black combination is sick. Whoever painted the red is a master .. nice job
up there in Canada.

All RED...I am not sure how/why the black fenders came to be but these trucks are boxy enough without highlighting it.
But in the end it's your preference that matters...

My vote would be black fenders with an alternate color (with black and red I'd do argent silver) in the grille area. I like the contrasting black, especially with red and it also happens to be proper for the Merc's.
Based on what can be seen of the cab, I would suspect the bodywork on the fenders is good enough to go black but an extra-picky going over before paint would be a good idea, too.

Truck's gonna be pretty. I'm jealous. Just crawled out from under mine and it is miles and miles and miles from where yours is.

Here’s a picture of my truck and then a few pictures of options. If someone knows how to put one of those polls on the top I’d appreciate it otherwise please just post in the comments.
thanks
zac

my truck

Looks like your fenders are already red ,I'd leave them that color too

Thanks appreciate it. Yep I think you hit the nail on the head. A nice silver sounds good. The cab is far from perfect but I think I can get the fenders decent enough for black.
