My suggestion is there is used ones on the market which can be bought in the 50's all day with less than 10K miles. As far as new look for a 2017 on the lot, dealer make incredible deal. I saw 3 lariats with sticker price of $68K listed for $57K. Drive out for under $60K with a Lariat...
Just went through the process. My $.02. Figure out what you want. Right down to the type of tires. Go look at the different trucks and options. I'd scour these forums for any tidbits you will pick up. And that will be a lot.
Go on the build and price site at Ford. Hit the information tab on everything to see what is included. Example. I wanted rain wipers but didn't want to buy ultimate package on Lariat. However, I had purchased 360 camera. Turns out the tow tech package had the wipers in it and some other stuff I wanted without going overboard.
Same thing with chrome package. Liked it.....but not worth $1150. Then I figure out running boards were included and now it was only $400 ish.
Go to Costco site and see their price. Can you get a pco? I was able to buy Fleet so that was huge (over 20% off sticker). There are sites to sign up that will get you X plan as an example. Get all those and any others you can find....know the price and then approach dealer. At least you will know closer to bottom line.
One dealer told me he was cheapest and would kill anyone within 50 miles. His quote was $55K. I got it for $46,900. Needless to say, he didn't even return my email asking if he wanted to match, lol.
Not the end all ideas here. Just some things to chew on.
I configured a 2019 exactly as I wanted (I used NADA because 2019s were not up on the Ford website until a couple weeks ago) and sent an email with the build sheet attached to a couple of the local dealer's internet managers. I stated plainly that I qualified for X Plan but expected a better deal. The first (and only) one to respond offered to sell me any custom order for $1500 under invoice. I knew from my research that this was an excellent offer. I went to visit the dealership in person and everyone was as cool as could be. I could have gone to another dealer and asked them to beat the deal, then gone back to the first one and played them against each other. Forget all that. We shook hands and submitted the order. They never even asked about a trade in. We worked that out later and have agreed to a price that is good until my new truck gets delivered. It was the best buying experience ever.
Go to the Ford build and price site and see exactly what you have to have. Then see whats included in the packages. I built a 19 XLT for less than the dealer wanted for a used 17 Lariat. The XLT has everything I wanted while the Lariat had a lot of things I didn't want. For that much coin don't compromise, get what you want
I concur - if you are looking at f-250s, see how much extra a f-350 is. In Minnesota, the registration is hundreds less on a one ton than a 3/4 ton. Plus, you get more cargo weight...you never know when you will need it.
X-plan pricing comes in about within $100 or so of invoice plus it limits the dealer to $100 dealer fees max. With x-plan you can also stack incentives and rebates. Your employer may be eligible for employees to quality fit x-plan. If not you can join EAA.org for $40 and qualify for x-plan. A good place to start. https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/eaa-membe...nition-program
As as others have stated go to NADA.COM and build your truck. It’s way easier than using the Ford site to build it. It will also give you accurate MSRP and accurate Invoice prices that can be printed out.
SKIP THE F250 AND GET A F350. You won’t regret it. I don’t know of anyone who ever regretted getting a 350 over a 250. It gives you 1200 lbs more payload and rides the same unloaded.
I have bought several vehicles with X-plans, But lately the dealers seem to be able to beat X-plan pricing. Just compare and see. It's not as steep a discount as it used to be.
If you get an X-pin, You can go to Xplan website and see exactly what your truck will cost. Then you can dicker with your dealer and see which way is cheaper.
If you want to play with x-plan pricing, go to fordpartner.com and play with code MC405 -
that's the code for Mustang Club of America members. It's $25/year to join...
As mentioned above, if you are looking at a gas 250, get the 350 instead, it has the same
transmission they put behind the diesel along with a higher GVWR.
Does anyone know for sure if you can use the first responders discount with X-Plan? I thought you could, then found a dealer stating you could not on an auto trader ad. Seemed a little fishy.
