Related to what component? If you're referring to the EGT sensor that would fail and cause this (I think it was EGT sensor #14) then yes, Ford modified the firmware to reduce the chances of a single sensor failure from fully shutting down the truck.
This is still a valid message for when an issue occurs and the truck needs to shut down.
Hi thanks Just bought truck yesterday about an hr away from home and this happened so waited for troopers because i was on turnpike wouldn't restart by the time tow truck came it started told them my story showed paper work truck was less then an hr old to me!!! they didn't charge me and off I went and made it home, so after reviewing all these post I realized this is an on going emissions problem? seems when the EPA made diesels change to this system there has been all kinds of problems Used car dealer is allowing me to take it to Ford and will pay for fix, he says he never heard of this I called him back and told him how much info I found on here on the car fax it states this #15m02 was done an extended coverage was added 1/14/16! So yes I think its the EGT, but beings it was done in 2016 I am concerned Don you think at that time they didn't know which EGT sensor it was???? Thanks really appreciate it My truck is 6.7 L 2012 super duty crew cab

Sounds like an EGT sensor issue since the cool-down allowed the restart. Since the used dealer has made the offer to take it to Ford, the truck needs to be correctly troubleshot. It's probably an EGT sensor issue but what if it has a real issue that needs to be addressed?
My own guess since it's a 2012 is it hasn't been updated in a long time or never. The EGT shutdown modification was after the 2012MY. When it goes in for diagnostics, the modules need to be updated to the latest version with IDS.
CSA 15M01/15M02 is just the extension and repair only if necessary. If the four EGT sensors were not an issue for the previous owner(s), those are original. My 2011, for example, reports the same CSA but I've never had EGT sensor issues so I still have the original May 2010 build sensors.
Also, Ford did not state there was a fix. However, reports of this message have dropped significantly since Ford released the version that contains the updated parameters/logic.
