changing distributor

Hi,

change is easy.
Locate spark plug tower on #1 cylinder and crank the engine over until the #1 cylinder is on the compresion stroke. To accomplish this take a wrench on the lower engine pulley and turn the engine slowly in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction until the TDC mark on the crankshaft damper aligns with the timinig pointer. Remove the old distributor by losing the clampbolt (9/16 I think) On convetional ignition systems the rotor must at the #1 firing position to install the distrbutor. Make sure that the oil pump intermediate shaft properly engages the distributor shaft. Rotate the distributor to advance the timing to a point where the armature tooth is aligned properly breakerless system). Tighten the clampbolt.

Before starting be sure that your have removed the wrench from the cranksaft!!!!!

If the distributor has been installed incorrectly and the engine will not start, remove the distributor from the engine and start over again.

If you need more info....ask

Jens
