P400 Identification Help

P400 Identification Help

So I am new to the forum and I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place. I recently picked up a sweet, well I think it is sweet, Ford P400 step van. I would love to know the year, but I have not been able to determine that from the serial number or any other markings.

Serial Number: P40J0H22311

Also, is there a good place to find a shop manual?

I think that I figured out that this is a 1960 and was able to order a shop manual. I tried deleting my post, but was unable to for whatever reason.

P40 = P400 (P series Parcel Delivery, a step van is a Chevrolet

0 = 1960.

H = Lorain OH Assembly Plant.

22311 = 1960 Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the P series' specific serial number.

137" Wheelbase.

P = Primer (specified by original purchaser).

P400 Parcel Delivery, 10,000 lbs. GVWR

14M = Assembled December (M) 14, 1959 (A = January, M = December, the letter I is skipped).

F = Borg-Warner T-98 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

08 = Timken model B140 Rear Axle / 5.83-1.

10,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

126 net HP @ 4,000 RPM

Why would you want to delete the post? Look at all the info you received.

1955/76 P series look exactly the same. Ford supplied the front sheet metal, dash, steering column. Aftermarket body makers supplied the body.
