It should come with the right adapters. My OTC kit did.

Geekwithoutacause I'm still trying to wrap my head around how it could possibly be easier or faster to square up, support and push out a balljoint in a shop press than with a proper balljoint press(c clamp). How do you do the bottom one? With a long piece of pipe or something? Seems like a lot more of a balancing act than using the actual tool that is made for doing the job? Like I said before I have both and the OTC c-clamp is easy peasy I just do it on the bench.

I usually use several lengths of steel pipe with caps on it. This way I just fill up the space in between when doing the lower one. Same way to support the clamp when pushing the new one in on top (or bottom, I forgot ). The shop press is actually cheaper than the otc kit if you need to buy it. Around here the car part places only rent out the crappy clamps that are usually damaged. I've actually bought some cheaper clamp sets solely to use the adapters in my press. I throw the actual C part in the trash.
No balancing on the press. Hold the pipe w one hand, use the other to pump. It's really easy on the press once you know what to do.

I guess my confusion comes from reading the Amazon reviews, everyone says the kits do not come with the proper adapters, then others say to get the OTC 6731 kit but even that does not include everything and I need to get the OTC 38354 which is $$$ adding up pretty quick.

Geekwithoutacause. I hear what you're saying and I could do it on a shop press but having both at my disposal I would never choose to use the shop press over the actual balljoint press to press out/in balljoints. I'm sorry but you can tell me over and over how much better it is but I'll still use my OTC balljoint press to press out balljoints. Its a tool designed for one purpose, to press out/in balljoints and ime it does it very well.

beachcamper. I'll try to grab a couple of pics and the part number off my OTC kit tomorrow if that'll help out. I've done every style of Ford with it from OBS through superduty.

Got the ball joints done this weekend, upgraded both sides top & bottom to Moog's (was quite the job, not for the faint of heart for sure)

So in the end I used the Astro 7865 ball joint kit AND a few adapters from the Astro 7897 adapter set, so yes you need both.

For the last side since it was late and I was tired, I ended up putting my impact on the c clamp, made life much easier, should have done that sooner.

Oh man, you did the clamping manually? No wonder you were tired.

Everything I read said using an impact on the C Clamp was a sure way to mess up the C Clamp so yea, 2 ppl, me holding the knuckle down and my buddy on the wrench.

I don't think it will mess it up as long as you use enough grease on it.
I tried it once that way just by myself. Man what a sight. Got quite pissed off.

If you go the c-clamp method, have a good bench vise ready. It’ll make things much easier. Grease up the large screw for the c-clamp or else you will risk tearing the threads off.

I'll add with the OTC I've never used a bench vice and I have two available med and large. I always use the impact on my c-clamp press. I just do it on the bench. Easy peasy. Drive em out. Drive em in.
