Need some help

Hey fellas,

Trying to find part numbers for bearings and seals for the ford 9" rear end I have. Its challenging as the auto parts people want me to know the year and model of the vehicle it came out of and that info is no longer available.

What I know currently,

Ford 9" rear,
Old style Big Bearing,
28 Spline axle,

What I'm guessing,
Think it came out of a late 1960's (67-72) F100

Any one installed new axle bearings and seals into one of these rear ends and still have Part numbers handy? If so I would greatly appreciate the help. I would like to get it put back together so I can mount it and clean up part of my shed.

Thanks in advance every one .

Probably a dumb question, but does it still have the ID tag on it?

If it hasn't got a Tag on the rear housing, I would pull one axle and look for the numbers on the bearings, races and seal!

measure axle diameter and inside housing diameter that should get you close.

Look closely at the ones being removed and you should see numbers marked on them .
All bearings and seals are marked with part numbers .

Tonight after some intense cleaning was finally able to reveal a pn on the bearings, F-208A-KK. Everything is is worn off, corroded or disintegrated.

Should hopefully be enough for me to finally get the proper kit.

Hey Jason,
I see another mode of transportation in your signature. What's the story
behind the helicopter?

It sounds like you found what you need. Your description sounds like the rear I have in my 48. Just tell them it for a 64 F100 - they won't know the difference.

Take the old seal with you to compare side by side.

Also, find a better parts store. One where they can id things without the computer.

Thanks MT,

Ben the helicopter in that picture was a couple years back when we did a bunch of seismic work in Florence Arizona. Up until just recently I worked as a Aviation Maintenance Engineer, (the equivalent of a type certified A&P in the US.) I no longer work for that company as I was offered a position closer to home as a Director of Maintenance. So now I do more office work that repairing helicopters. Still a good challenge though.
