'17 seats use thermo electrics - separate units in the seat bottom and seat back....spinning the fan in one direction cools, reverse the direction and it heats - the 17+ seats are not as effective (and the fan can be heard on the highest setting).
2017 seats BLOW air toward the seated occupant
in the 18 (f150) the seats PULL (or suck) air away from the occupant - this re-design in the f150 didn't make it to the '18 super duty.

Sad, but it's also the first thought that came to my mind. Never heard of a seat filter, but then my truck doesn't have climate controlled seats. !

the fart theory while funny and logical....the seats BLOW air thru the passengers not SUCK....so the filter wouldn't help (charcoal or otherwise).
I expect the filter was there to keep carpet fuzz and dust out of the blower, prior to 2017.
knowing the (f150) seats SUCK (air away from the occupant) a filter wont be necessary...unless its charcoal odor filters
