Fan Switch Short?
I have rewired my entire truck and have at one time or another encountered nearly every electrical issue mentioned in the FORUMS. However, I now have a new (and hopefully final) electrical issue. I put a Tach into my 84' Ford F-250 2x4 w/460 and it seems to work fine. I got the tach out of an 86 F-250 W/460 in a junk yard (in southern Arizona), so it its not new. My problem is that when I turn on my fan ie. defrost AC, heater and operate the control switch (Hi, Med, Low) my Tach pegs out at Hi fan, and jumps on Med or Low fan. This switch runs between fuse #9 in the fuse box, and the fan, so I don't see where it could be shorting the Tach. When I looked at the wire diagram my wires look like they may be reversed, I found that tonight and need to check it tomorrow. The motor still works, I just don't use it much for fear of burning it up. Any Ideas?
