I like the carpet. Makes truck look more plush and stylish. As somebody pointed out earlier, vinyl floor was the "cheap" floor. Guess that just makes me think of that when I see one without carpet.
Seems like I'd always see any kind of spots on vinyl and want to wipe them off. Carpet hides quite a bit. Rug Dr. it every five years, lol
Carpet (and padding) add sound deadening, warmth, improve interior acoustics and add a level of luxury...I even added Lloyds (luxury) carpet mats....but then mines a Platinum to begin w/.
It’s a $50 credit on a Lariat. Higher trim levels it’s extra cost. I don’t think I would get it if I had to pay extra.
Now getting a credit for choosing vinyl flooring makes sense. Why does it cost extra on the higher trim levels? I don't like the idea of paying more to get less.

The premium vinyl is different/thicker than the vinyl you get with a carpet delete on lower trim levels.
I thought hard on the vinyl. I have two super duties now, one with carpet, one with vinyl. I decided to go with carpet on my 2019 and install husky exact mats.
Over the years I’ve seen my vinyl floor is not all that easy to keep clean-looking. The hosing out others talk about doesn’t sound great to me. When I’ve done that, water gets in the door sill. When I’ve taken apart the door sil on my vinyl I’ve been amazed at the dirt and grime I find. Here in the northeast you get nice salt on your boots in the winter too.
So, I’ve decided good rubber or plastic liners over carpet are my favorite.
How is the vinyl flooring to clean once dirty? I've found some rubberized stuff just never appears clean no matter how hard I scrub. Always had carpet and currently do but yes makes no sense why I have it when I live in a snowy region and carpets always end up wet underneath at some point.
I've had both vinyl and carpet. I thought long and hard about it with my '18, but in the end, I decided to go with the carpet (the $50 credit was an insult). My truck isn't a work truck, and even when I had vinyl floors, I always did my best to keep them clean anyways (floor mats, keep muddy feet off them, etc...).
I still never hosed out my vinyl floor, because the water will just soak into the mat under it and wash the mud/dirt into the nooks and crannies, seat mounts, door sill, etc....
I’m in the “vinyl looks cheap” camp. When buying a $70k+ vehicle, I don’t want anything to seem cheap. The way I use a truck, it is a working truck, but not in the sense that I am getting mud all over in it. A “working truck” doesn’t necessarily mean being a rancher with muddy boots and all that. I put a lot of highway miles on towing and hauling things my job requires, and spend more time in my vehicle than I do my house, so I want the luxury and refinement in the cab. Harder to clean? Probably, but put some Husky mats in and all you have to do is pull them out and hose them off. Pretty easy.
I have vinyl & I don't think that it look cheap at all, but then again, that is beauty of options--we each get to have what we want.
However, there is one slight con if you live in a hot climate... I have had my 2017 almost 2 years now & the vinyl can make the cab smell like a tire shop when it is hot outside. It has a very noticeable smell. It is not a bad smell--it is just a noticeable smell.
I suspect that is one disadvantage of the vinyl....hot in the summer, cold in the winter.
Im not sure that I buy that vinyl is easer (or more difficult to clean)....wipe it down or polish to a (like new) shine....probably no more effort than running a vacuum over carpet

Reminds me that a perfume ought to be developed that smells like new truck leather. That or one that smells like bacon. Better yet, sell them as a pair! Alas, my wife won't wear either.

The higher trim floors have molding in them and you get Ford's all-weather mats and carpet mats with the "premium vinyl" option. Plus, you get greater value by not having to put up with dirty stanky carpet through the years. It saves you money by not having to waste funds and time cleaning carpet.
To me the vinyl floor covering does not look cheap, it looks practical as hell and is a great contrast to the other luxury portions of the interior, 'ya know the ones without your feet on them.
