? about headlights before I break something...

2011 Ranger- Had hell changing right headlight bulb a couple of years ago when I bought the truck. The tabs would not release without pliers/hammer hitting on them for awhile.
Now left side bulb is out and going through same problem as before. This time, the big tab (on left facing truck) came up with no issue (didn't need hammer or pliers) but smaller tab on right (facing truck) won't bulge.

? Don't you have to push the tab away from you as you hammer on it or is it the other way around? I tried pushing away but I want to make sure before I break something if I should be pulling the tab instead of pushing it away.?.

? If I disable daytime running lights would bulbs last longer between hammer sessions

Thanks

I found my old replies...... screwdriver is what got it...plus someone told me to shot it with pb...
Did both and it worked

For next time"
put screwdriver in tab hole and push towards truck (so you can get some torque)..the pull up..it's very hard ..way harder than it should be..but it should work.

I believe they were both original bulbs (truck was 4 when I got it) but not sure as both were no name (gk) made in china.

I just replaced the headlights on my '03 AND '04 myself.

I DID spray the slides with CRC Power Lube to get them to slide easily up.

As far as going back in you will need to keep some pressure on the front of the light itself so the slides can engage the fitting on the light if that makes sense??

Yea I finally got it..just couldn't remember what I did last time to make it work.

I can't complain too much as this has been a super reliable truck and has worked out better than expected (Hint: don't always believe automotive reviews).
Thanks..
