Great looking truck!
Couple of items -
1. Have the spark plugs ever been changed? The OEM plugs were Motorcraft AGSF22WM and the current replacement is SP-479. Check the torque on the plugs if they are OEM.
Ours had 104k with OEM plugs in it when we got it and blew #3 at 108k that had worked loose. Factory torque is 17 ft-lbs or so, most use 20-25 ft-lbs. When you change the plugs might as well throw on a set of Denso boots/springs, 671-0001, $30/10 on ebay.
2. Does it have a rear anti-roll bar? Handling will be much improved in turns and crosswinds after adding a rear bar.
3. If you plan to tow anything check the bottom radiator tank for the in-tank tans cooler. Early builds had that omitted.
4. Also, for towing the trailer hitch bolts were changed in later years which increases the hitch capacity rating.
5. If the shocks are original they are probably toast, ours were.
6. On ours a couple of tie rods ends were worn/loose, too.
Thanks. Plugs were done at 101k miles. Along with Monroe shocks all around. (Previous owner kept receipts). I just got a 30mm rear sway bar from the local boneyard and ordered new links from rock auto. Don’t know about the radiator having a cooling circuit for the trans fluid. I’ll take a look this weekend as I’m doing the 2005 facelift. Truck runs fine and front suspension has some play but it’s pretty good. I’ll probably end up doing ball joints, bushings and tie rods just to get it nice and right.
