Hey, I posted on the Excursion page as well, but how many miles can someone expect out of the V10 engine. I am looking at a 2000 Excursion wiht 91K miles and do not want to get into any problems. I have not looked at the vehicle, or researched service record, just wanted to get an idea of the longivity of the V10 versus the pre-6L Diesel. (7.3L?)
I did some digging and found this thread. Did you go through with the Excursion?
The V10 will last as long as the Powerstroke if properly cared for. The next time you go to a Ford dealer get an OASIS report. That will tell you about any problems and/or repairs on the vehicle. In addition to that, you'll have be able to see if the vehicle was well maintained. If it's not maintained, don't bother; its only going to be trouble.
Thanks, for now the wife has nix'd the new vehicle, so I will have to revisit in the future. Hey, maybe if I wait long enough, she will let me get one of the new F250s.
