Zf5 speedometer issue

I am about to swap my t18 for a 1992 zf5 into my 84 2wd f250. I think I will need to hook up my speedometer cable to regain use of the cruise control. I believe ford used an electronic speedometer cable in the rear differential in 92+ trucks. Any thoughts on how to get me a working speedometer again?

4X4 the speedometer cable goes into the tail shaft of the transfer case. to use a 2 wheel drive trans from an electronic speedometer vehicle, i have no idea.
cruise control is run off the speedometer, not the tach.

The 92 ZF may not have a speedo gear or a mounting hole for the cable. 90s era F-Series used a speed sensor mounted in the rear axle. The signal from the sensor was shared by the electronic speedometer/odometer, RABS and PCM if equipped. IDI diesels may not have used a PCM. I can't remember those years.

the 84 uses a speedometer cable, the 92 used a digital signal from the VSS in the rear axle. there will be no speedometer cable port in the 92 trans.
idi diesel is strictly mechanical and has no engine control computer at all

I dont think the cruise is tied into the speedo until 92+, frankly i have no idea how they work. Unfortunately, there is no way to make your factory speedo work with that trans. Get an earlier zf, or a gps speedometer.
