In the F & C series, and others I presume, the VIN will not always start with "F150", "C600" etc. (EDIT, see link in post 4). I don't have the books, so I can't tell you exactly. But this has come up a couple times, with one ending kind of comically with the OP insisting to the end that he DID NOT have an F600, it was the rare and collectible "F610" or something like that.
So don't be that guy, don't go get personalized plates with "F140" or "ONEOF1" or "RARE140" or....you know.
