I'm gonna play devil's advocate.
Agreed that the execution and craftsmanship appears 'rough', but there's also something to be said for how far along he has gotten the project. Most would never have gotten as far as to get that roof skin accomplished. Now, how well is it accomplished? I'm more than a little afraid to look at that, but dang, there's a lot of work to get there. Also, he knows what he's trying to show with the pics looking down the side of the cab. He's proud of what he's gotten done, and I'd contend he should be. No small feat.
Most of us, myself included, have spoiled eyes to the most aesthetic truck bodies ever built. Give those classically gorgeous curvy metal bodies 'lipo', or a 'boob job' (or a second head), you'd dang well better know what you're doing stylistically or it's going to wind up an abomination on a masterpiece!!!
on par with the famous "monkey Christo" fresco painting restoration...

Now, $3k.... Most other abandoned projects (with similar amounts of labor/effort) I come across would be (insanely) asking double that. If everything there is solid, structurally sound and square, I'd say he's pretty dang fair. Imagine the whole thing done, all the wavy skins replaced, the bed used as a mockup and template for replacement, and dressed up with the oak and ss floor it deserves. Squint your eyes and see a glossy painted, crew cab dog-leg effie riding high on your flavor of 4x4 wheels, with a well crafted interior refinished to boot, and tell me that vision wouldn't get thumbs up on more than a rare occasion.
I don't think his price is nuts. If I walked up and found enough of it built soundly. I would probably throw him a serious offer of almost what he's asking. If only I were in the market for a new head-hole right now...
