So I'm going to start with the back ground . The car was purchased by a very good friend approximately 25 years ago . I have spent many hours over the years working on discussing and debating on repairs , mods etc . My friend died about 12 years ago at which time we did a fresh paint and his widow moved to Vancouver island ( 1500 miles ) . One of his last wishes while he was in the hospital was that if she were to sell it I should have the first opportunity to buy it . About 10 days ago she called saying she was in poor health and needed cash . After an extremely short , positive conversation with my wife ( she was as excited or more than me ) I was on a series of flights landing in Comox B.C. I had a look over the car left Campbell River B.C. and drove 1500+ miles in three days to get home . The car preformed flawlessly .
Sorry to hear about the issues that got you the car but I'm very happy that she remembered to fulfill her husbands wishes. Very cool car and a nice "little" drive too
A sad but happy story for you and the car. From all your posts that I have seen the car now has a great home. What kind of car is that! Looks like late 30's early 40's but I don't recognize it.
Yes I was quite happy with it . 1500 miles , most at 75-80 mph , in three days @ 18.5 mpg and 0 oil consumption . The sad part is I needed to get home for harvest thereby squandering an opportunity that many could only dream of and few could or would ever do . That being a chance to drive a hot rod cross country at your own pace , visiting , site seeing and taking whatever road interests you . But o well I do have the car .
It's a beautiful car, and its condition after all these years speaks to your quality workmanship. While the situation may be sad, I'm sure having the car and the memories of your friend will be priceless and cherished.
Beautiful car ,I'm sure the drive home was filled with many fond memories of time spent with your friends and the car itself. Your friend must of thought the world of you, which just goes to show what a special person you truly are..It sounds like the car is home, and with a friend that it remembers, and knows you will take good care of it like you helped do in its past. Im sorry to here of your loss of your friend and that his wife is ILL, But the car is exactly where it belongs, (with you). Im happy for you.
