Shift On The Stop

I have owned two Ford four-wheel drive pickups, a 1995 F150 and a 2004 F350 ...each had/has the manual four-wheel drive shifter on the floor [the other option was Shift On The Fly dash-mounted controls]. Now on the 2017+ Ford Super Duty pickup trucks the offerings are the dash-mounted controls and new-to-me Shift On The Stop [manual floor shifter]. My question is: is this Shift On The Stop the same system that I have been used-to for the past twenty-three years? I have been able to shift into and out-of 4H at low speeds and while driving (I usually would coast, not accelerate) or does it truly mean Shift On The STOP ? Thank you.

I use 4wd 3 or 4 times a month. I have never stopped for 4H. Just pull the lever back like I always have... Same with going back to 2wd.

As long as your hubs at locked, you can shift 2H to 4H and back while moving. Preferably not in a tight turn or under full throttle, but as long as hubs are locked it'll go back and forth at speed no problem. Don't try it if your hubs are unlocked, though.
Officially - follow Ford guidance, of course.

Thank you for the responses...understood, hubs locked, etc. It was the ground speed that I was concerned about. Both trucks had/have manual transmissions, the '95 had limited-slip differentials in the rear and in the FRONT, they have done away with the front option so the '04 has only a limited-slip rear, so I am all too familiar with the tight turns...thanks again.

Yes, the MSOS is the same system that has always been used
