So after looking around for a few weeks, i picked one out that had good reviews.
Sadly i personally feel the fitment sucks, about 3/ 8th's gap all the way around. Amusingly enough most have that in the reviews, i got this one because it did not.
Does anyone know of a smoked lense, led is better but incandescent is fine, that actually fits correctly?
Or of any that actually match up to our Excursion body lines correctly, outside of stock?
i have spent hours looking so far but have come up with nothing guaranteed as of yet.
I bought my Ex new, and "back in the day", there was a company marketing a third brake light with built in cargo type lights . I thought it might be helpful. The light was made for (if memory serves) an F150, but was supposed to fit Excursion. Thinking out loud, it may have been a Lightning factory part. The long and the short of it....it didn't fit Excursion. The screw holes lined up... but it didn't fit cirrectly in the Excursiom.
I just added LED's and a strobe to mine. Much brighter and more noticeable.
In the below picture, you can see the leftmost light socket is actually burnt from the incandescent light bulb. Same problem I had on my Navigator. Removed it and put LED's in.
Got a strobe for motorcycle brake lights. Installed it behind the upper hatch door inner trim. 4 way flashers first, then brakes where you see the 3rd light strobe 6 times before going solid red
I have been searching and the only thing I have found to look the best is get a new stock lens and take it to an auto body shop and have it smoked. That is the route I am going to take at least.
