My 1990 Mustang GT was broken into a couple years back right in my drive way! I had just gotten back from a christmas party around 2AM so I decided I would bring everything in in the morning. When I came out in the morning, all the presents were gone but the idiots didn't take the most expesnsive things!!!! (subs, amp,CD Player, Monitor, DVD Player, Tac)!!!! I guess they were on foot! So with everyone else, I also feel your pain....IT SUCKS!!!

P.S. I still don't lock my doors (cars, trucks, house, garage, its all wide open all the time, I do now have a 130 lb guard on the job around the clock though..... my Rottie!!)
I'll have to agree with the advice on putting the system under lock and key (and out of sight) in a Tuffy console. It's kind of hard to hide subs and the like, but if you've only got nice speakers that can be hidden behind the factory grills, consider either (1) hiding an add-on CD changer in the console, and controlled by the factory in-dash deck, or (2) disconnecting the factory deck, but leaving it installed. Install a high-end deck, and / or CD changer in a custom panel inside the console. One of the slickest setups I've seen was a '72 Blazer with the factory Delco radio in the dash - flip up the console lid and the nice deck and equalizer were installed in a custom panel. When they see a factory or unexciting (read "no value at the pawn shop") deck in the dash, they're probably going to leave your truck alone, assuming you're not advertising your system to everyone. My truck was proof..... two years ago, as it sat on the lot of the tranny shop, two trucks next to mine lost their CD players. My Realistic cassette deck apparently wasn't sexy enough for them, so my truck still retains its original window glass. There are a number of nice (Doppler sensor) alarm systems on the market for less than $200.00. Consider that a small price when compared to the cost of the loss, the damage, and the frustration.
Well unlike most of you i caught the theives with a baceball bat in my hand. I was over at a friends house when we heard a door shut and one open. we look out the window and see 3 kids about 14 or 15 with a coat hanger and some wd-40. they knew how to pick my lock and they were 14. i grabbed a bat and snuck up to the other side of my truck. i run over to the other side and confront them. in their arms was my cd player, amp, 200 cd's, subs and my ashtray full of change. they all ganged up on me and tried to stab me with the coat hanger. i swung my bat and hit one in the knee cap and he dropped like a fly. i hit another one in the lower back and he fell over and passed out, the third ran in the woods. my friend had called the cops and they were there in seconds. they took the 2 injured to the hospital and the third was caught and brought to juvy for one week. the grand total of what they tried to steal was just over 2000$. their fine was 3500$ a peice plus medical bills for the 3 stab wounds to my right thigh. the amazing part was that they were 14 and 15 years old and they were commiting felonys and basically trying to kill me. after that experience i got a 500 dollar alarm and i havent had anybody even touch my truck.
I had my s-10(don't judge me, my wife drives it) broken into in our townhouse parking lot while we were home for lunch. The kid was waiting in the bushes and when my wife came in, he went to work. Our token "nosey old lady" was watching the whole thing, including when he walked two cars down and put out cd deck, 150 cd's, and wife's cell phone into his back seat. the cops came, knew who did it, but have not done crap. The juvy laws in hawaii are a joke. Even worse i am military, so I might as well be a crook the way we get treated here. I dream of the day when I see him touching somebody's crap. i hope he tries to run so he is tired when I beat the **** out of him.
