Transmission Cooler info
Just a heads up. My 01 F-450, burped out the transmission, then caught on fire from the fluid leaking onto the hot "y" pipe. Shop looked at it, determined the transmission was toast. According to the shop, (who I trust), the torque converter was so hot, it had blued in places. Turns out, my aftermarket transmission cooler had gotten clogged at the intake side, due to debris from wear in the transmission. This caused the transmission to overheat, and basically die on me. Thought I would pass this along to you guys with high mileage transmission. Maybe check your coolers every now and then. This transmission had been replaced 16,000 miles ago, but, I don't know if cooler was serviced. Hope this saves someone the pain of a new transmission.
