If you want a replacement tank check out National Parts Depot (NPD)
They have metal tanks for pretty much every cab and frame type
These guys have pretty much have every part for these 73-79 trucks!
Found a local plastic welding fabrication shop that did the repair. This tank is polyethylene in case you need to know. They tested a few plastics, found that that's the material and made the repair. $40 out the door. Just tested it and looks great.
Glad it worked out for you. Sometimes people are quick to throw money at new parts when you can fix what you have. Remember it's patched tho so if you have any fuel issues in the future I would come back to that first and double check it's still holding up.

Way to go. I'm surprised at the price for the job.
Yep good advice. I'm not going to fill it all the way up but I'll definitely keep an eye on it. It's good to be around industrial area sometimes. You can find small mom-and-pop shops like this one that just want to help somebody out. I also got a quote for 180 from one of the bigger shops.
Now that is repaired by the weld shop you might consider adding some backup. Get some of that JB water weld and cover the entire area. Can't hurt and might give it some additional structure. Just an extra 30mins and 10 bucks.....

Yeah, we wouldn't touch that job for <$100. Good for you. I hope it holds a good long time.
