I recently purchased a 1999 F150 with a 6 cyl. and manual transmission. It has power door locks, but did not come with any remotes. The previous owner said he never got them when he bought it in 2005, so I purchased two aftermarket remotes. Well, I'm failing at getting the truck into programming mode. I've tried all the methods listed here and elsewhere to no avail.
Note that manual transmission vehicles have the mechanical key locking mechanism above the ignition switch. I've tried to hold this forward as I'm cycling the key ON/OFF 8X within 10 seconds to allow a fairly smooth key cycling, but maybe I'm not succeeding. Has anyone ever tried to put a manual transmission vehicle into programming mode? Perhaps there is a trick to this?
Also, someone suggested perhaps it was never manufactured with remote capability. I thought all vehicles with power door locks came with remotes. Any thoughts to this?
Yes, you are correct -.no RAP module. Doesn't make sense to me - PDL and remote entry go together like bread and butter. Guess Ford didn't think so back then. Thanks for you help projectSHO89.
No. Ford offered the remoteconvenience package as an upgrade of the basic power door locks. Whoever ordered what is now your truck didn't want to pay for the convenience feature so it wasn't included.
