Theft lock issues!!!

Bought this truck 5 yrs ago i could tell engine comp was power washed. Idk if thats the cause idc just need help fixing this. 03 f150 4.6 has key fob. If i manually lock truck using door switch and then use the turn key to open door theft goes off and will not let me start even if i put key in ignition. Key fob is only way to disable. When i first bought it theft would go off randomly and in some cases leave me with a dead battery. It hasnt done this in a few yrs but i want to pass tgis truck to my boy and i dont need the worry and hassle of keeping up with one key fob. I would be screwed if lost or broke key fob. Any way to disable/fix get new key fobs? Thanks

It sounds like the microchip in the key isn't being detected by the anti theft system. You won't know for sure unless you have access to a scan tool that can read the security system data.

Anti theft is its own module - it will have a data link to the PCM but is not directly controlled by it.

These trucks didn't have an alarm. They only have PATS so any alarm that is being triggered is not factory. Its probably tied into the door lock module and is looking for a pulse signal. It is most likely causing a start inhibit. I suggest removing it.

Thx for replies. So no key fobs at all on these trucks? I was told it was after market theft system but wasnt sure. When it goes off theres alot of clicking coming from dash and weird random horn tempo (that is before i unplugged horn) where do i start and what tool to see if its aftermarket and how to disable thank u

If it's an aftermarket system causing the problem, then I'm not sure a scan tool will do you any good - a scan tool will allow you to access PATS data but it's unlikely an aftermarket system is accessible using the OBD 2 connector.

To find aftermarket modules, you're probably going to have to remove the dash surrounding the steering column - you'd be looking for anything that's clearly been spliced into the harness for the instrument panel/steering column. It will be obvious by electrical tape/scotch locks/other signs of non-factory installation.
