Question about ordering a truck

how far into the order process can you make option changes? Is this something that is dependent on the dealer or?

I made a change about a week after I ordered. Dealer wasn't sure it would go through. His reply was "It wasn't scheduled yet so we got it done" or something like that.
I would assume once Ford schedules it you cannot make changes based on what he told me.
