Got a question about the camera that captures the area down in the bed of the truck. I pull a gooseneck trailer and was really excited about having this camera to help with ease of hook up. Before I though about it, I purchased a CamLocker toolbox with rails to go on my truck. Now when I turn this camera on all I can see is the middle part of the top of my toolbox. I cannot see the gooseneck ball at all. This situation renders the camera useless for trailer hook up. Is there any possible way to adjust the angle of the camera sensor inside the rear cab light so that it will look over the toolbox and allow me to see the gooseneck ball?
Sure would like to be able to use this camera. I believe it would be a great help with trailer hook up.
I hear 'ya cousin, we probably are I was born and raised in sweet home Alabam. I have a 20" wide low profile box and I think I'm in the same fix as you. I do not think there is any adjustment in the CHMSL camera. I'm leaning toward doing what this guy did in the video posted below.....
I got my aux tank and tool box set, among other things, and finally got a view of the bed in its final form. I can see about half of the ball so it should be enough to use as a guide when hooking up the goose neck. If the box was wide one, or the height was greater, or if I had a short bed there would be no way I could see the ball.
So, to recap a weather guard Model 121-52-01 (Saddle Box, Aluminum, Full Low Profile, 8.8 cu ft) or I guess any tool box 20" wide with ~4 1/2" of height above the bed rails should still allow you to see the ball. Also, I have heard you can get a taller ball that fits the factory prep kit, this should give you more wiggle room for a slightly taller box.
