Bed cap covers

Bed cap covers
So I removed my bed caps today and prepped and repainted them with dupicolor black trim paint. Now that they are off and I see how many Nick's and scratches the plastic covers have I want to upgrade. Searched online and deezee makes diamond plate covers but it states they go over top the factory ones? If I keep the plastic off and I stall the alumnium ones I'm sure they are gonna be too big to fit snug to the body metal no? If not I guess I can go get linex on the bed to like I've seen online, but I like chrome LOL

I've been trying to find pics of that old pickup. I'm pretty sure now that I think of it because I also had an 04 and put some on mine on top of the OEM plastic and always thought dads looked cleaner without them under the chrome but I was too scared to remove the plastic and scratching the paint with the chrome caps.

Yea well trust me, my paint is HORRIBLE under the factory caps. Scratches, flaxing and some rust! Which was the reason I was leaning towards hetti g the tops line-x or rhinolined
