Had engine light come on last night (off and on) and then solid. Engine started vibrating. Talking to friend they thought it might be sensor that was defective. Anyone else seen this in 97 Expedition.
I had one go out this past weekend, I just passed 115k. Take it to Autozonethey will read your code mine was P03003or something Misfire in CYL 3 replaced the COP on three and runs like normal now. 54.00 duckies at the zone and get some dielectric grease also. What I did was put the COP that was on 3 on 1 and 1 on 3 cleared my ECU. The stumble came back but you could tell it was different went back to the Zone had them read it and it came up in CYL1. They will read your code for free but this will tell you for sure its not the plug 3.99 vs. cop 54.00.
Tito, before throwing money away, have the code read. These engines have countless parts and sensors. The only way to isolate a problem is via the code stored in the PCM.
Had engine light come on about 3 wks ago after hitting a huge chuck hole in the road, no I'm sure it's not due to that, but in any event, was still running smoothly for about a week. Went to my local Schucks had it tested and it was spitting out P0171(lean bank 1) reading. Took it in had 4 sensors replaced. Check engine light still on and still running rough after alittle bit. Any suggestions before we start dumping $$$'s?
I have done two coil packs on my wife's truck and they were $189.xx from the local Ford Stealer. That was for diagnose, labor and materials. Looks like I will be going to AutoZone from now on. If I knew which coil was bad, I could have replaced it myself. I put new plugs in the truck about 20k ago.
We just had the PCV line replaced too. Cost $174 this time for dianose, labor and materials. I just didn't have the time to do it myself as I was working out of town.
Now the truck has a slight roughness to it, but not bad enough to set off the idiot light. I ran a can of Techron through it, but it is still running rough at times. Guess I will be going to AutoZone.
Truck has 124,000 on it and that is pretty much all we have ever done to it (2 coil packs and the PCV line).

maybe a vacuum leak ,or an injector not putting out the fuel it should.

Yup,heck your light could come on if you dont have your gas cap on tight.
Funny thing after fixing mine last weekend my Check Engine light came on yesterday, I went back to Autozone for a free code read and it came up P0455 I just bowed my head and walked back to the gas cap and sure enough I put some B-12 in the gas tank this weekend and shut the door and didnt screw the gas cap on. The only thing I wish AutoZone would do is clear the code for you, it takes me forever to get all my radio stations put back in. But I understand their reasons for not clearing them, but if I owned the Zone I wouldnt clear them either to much liability these days

.....another question for you guys. How long will it take for the check engine light to go off?...or do I have to take it in the the dealership and have it reset?.....or does it automatically reset itself over a period of time once it knows everythings okay?
