2004 Ford Ranger Engine Vibration
1, I bought a 2004 Ford ranger (85K miles )with a pretty bad vibration in the engine, got the engine tuned, new spark plug, distributor cover, fresh oil and while it reduced the vibration, it is still there. If I hold the RPM a bit higher it goes away which makes me think its worn out engine mounts. However, after the service we drove 500-600 miles and the oil light came on as we pulled into the driveway. I pulled the drip stick and it was dry which is very strange given the fact the truck has a complete service 2 weeks prior. Any ideas?
2, As I move through the gears theres a slight knock, 2nd to 3rd is harder. Would replacing the transmission solenoid pack be the best first step to fix this before pulling and replacing the transmission?
Is there a check list I should look at to try and pinpoint the issues(s) before I very reluctantly take it to the shop.
Thanks,
Gareth
