Just installed a Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 Series on my 01 SD 5.4L. I read several posts and everybody had different opinions on Flowmaster, but I think it sounds pretty good. The one I installed had a 3 in offset inlet and 3 in centered outlet. I used a 3 in 45 deg elbow as a turndown, dumping it out in front of the back axle (I know, I know, the exhaust police are gonna tell me you should always use a tailpipe...Oh well...). With the windows rolled up it's not that loud. Has a nice rumble when I downshift though.
On a different subject, I just ordered some Cooper Discoverer STT 285/75R16. Anybody used these tires before? Also, these should fit on a SRW F350 without any rubbing, right?

Haven't used those tires before. But they definately won't rub. You can do up to 295 absolutely problem free (with the exception that the manufacturers recommend a minimum 17*8" rim and the stock rims are 17*7"). Some guys run 305's, without problems, but it's a little tight when you're articulating at an extreme.
Glad to hear you like the sound of that as I plan on installing one next month. I'm not planning on doing much other than the muffler swap, at this time. Hehe

You might want to take a look at some other tires that have received GLOWING reviews lately. One is the Michelin LTX M/S which is the tire I'm currently running (love it). Another great tire is the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, which some have said is an even better tire. Click the links on the tire names and you'll see the reviews. Just be forewarned that once you up the size to 285, you're looking at a D rated tire rather than the E ratings you can get on a 265. Also, your speedo will be slightly effected (about 2.5 MPH low at 60 MPH, 1.25 at 30 MPH, etc) and I noticed a small dip in MPG's when I super-sized mine.
I had 245/75R16 tires on my 99 SD and my speedo was about 2 mph faster than reality.
I have recently installed 305/70R16 Nitto Terra Grappler tires and now my speedo reads 60 mph and my GPS claims I am going 61.1. The GPS should be exactly accurate, or as accurate as you can get.
I can live with 1.1 mph off. Most speedos are that far off with stock tires on. I would guess with the 285 tires it would be even closer to perfect.
Hey Tom,
Did you use your factory wheels with the Nittos or aftermarket ones. How would you rate the Nittos overall.
Sorry If i'm getting of original post.
Manny
I did use the stock wheels. I've only had them for a few hundred miles so I don't know if they will wear funny because they are a bit wide. I haven't had them rub yet and I tried turning as sharp as I could.
The tires ride much better than the BFG ATs. I hated those tires. So far I give the Nitto's a 9 or 10.
I see others here have the same tires and I wanted to ask them if they wore funny, but because I am a new user, I cannot email someone directly. I think one guy's name is bdda or something like that. If he is listening, please comment on your tires.
