anyone know of a thread for converting to manual?

I have been driving a manual this week and remember liking it. It's been a long time. Not that I want to redo everything in my truck just wanting to read up on it.

I have not converted, but just fully rebuilt one myself. Do not just toss in a high mile unit, I would at least split the case and check syncro clearance as well as the dogs on all gears as well as sliders.

Yup, do a search several write ups about it. I did mine almost 2 years ago, using the write ups from this forum, no issues at all.

You might be on to something Glenn. After my JW experience and as much as I tow, the manual works **** for me. I'll never go back, BTS or not. I've had a stock trailer or horse trailer hooked to my truck since June 1st. I like being in control of my driveability, but that's just me. To each his own.

I won't change my truck to a manual but the next one I buy will be one. I really enjoy driving them but if my wife ever needs to pull the trailer, she would really need an auto

That's one of my reasons for a auto. If it was a stick and I was having a heart attack,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Boost through the shifts kicksass. Especially on a well built auto with proper converter.

The ZF in the dually scares people. LoL plus anti theft device.

Proper trans tuning works wonders. It just so happens I have full control of my auto though. I can make my BTS shift awful if i want to... i have engine braking, it stays in the power band at absolutely every second (no bogging and smoking on take off is nice), and is stronger than any of my manuals were. I can even manually control it if i ever have an excuse to do it. Pulling trailers in Austin traffic has made me want autos in everything.
