I have a nice 89 f150 with a 302 engine and 5 speed.
I have recently purchased a 25ft travel trailer. I seem to lack enough power to manuver the trailer. I am wondering about the posibity of replacing the 302 and tran. with a 351 and an automatic transmission.
If anone has any sugustions please e-mail me rdavenp@family-net.net
Thanks Bob
One suggestion that could save you some money is to swap the rear end out with lower gears. 3.55s ? If you are running 2.73 it could make a lot of difference.
I would suggest the same!! try different ratio in the rear (in the front also if it is a 4x4). I would also suggest doing some engine mods to pick up some power. A good exhaust job along with possibly a chip could go a long way for under $500.00.
I personally dont believe that a 351 is worth the trouble to swap out! Now a 460 is a totally different question!
