Hi and thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I have a 1996 F-350 7.3 powerstroke diesel with 272,300 miles, 5 speed manual transmission. It had a loss of power when cold but after 15 min it would run fine. I replaced the glow plugs about 1 1/2 years ago. Replaced the glow plug relay in January. This improved the cold running issue.
The check engine light came on and I have no power. It will barley move, it has extremely rought idle. Won't idle up past 1000 rpm. I had a friend put his computer on it to read the codes. First code he told was P0603. I changed the oil and filter, fuel filters and cleaned the air filter. Replaced the cam position sensor, still runs the same. I then checked the valve cover gaskets and wiring and they had some melted parts. I've since replaced the gaskets and wiring inside and out and the injector pressure sensor because it was bad. Had codes read again. Now getting P0474, P0476, P1293 and P1296. I replaced the exhaust back pressure tube and sensor but don't know what else to check from here. I was told to check the injectors to see if oil squirted out of them when running. I did this and dont' see anything come out. I can see oil after I turn off the engine though.
I'm in northern AZ
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need more information.

Reason: add information
Some of your codes are for the valve cover harnesses. I am not sure if the codes were set before or after the work you did. Some are for exhaust back pressure so same thing goes. Not sure if they are from before or after your work. One of the codes is probably just cause the codes were cleared.
The code P0603 was before the valve cover gaskets were replaced. The other 4 were after a "hard reset" but haven't cleared the codes since I replaced the exhaust back pressure tube and sensor.
I ordered a new IDM for my truck. Going to clear the codes then install the new IDM and see what happens. I'll post the update once my new IDM arrives and is installed. I ordered the part on the 8th so should be here by the end of the week. It comes pre-programed for my truck which will be nice.
I don't have a way to do a buzz test but I will research it and see what it is and try to get that done also.
replaced the IDM today. Truck started right up with NO check engine light and the power is back. I took it for a short drive tonight and it ran great. I will take a longer drive tomorrow.
Thank you for your help.
Here’s a list of symptoms that I was having with the truck.
Check engine light was on immediately after starting.
No power, wouldn’t move without stalling. When I tried to increase the idle it wouldn’t rev up.
I had a friend plug in his code reader. Got P0603 and a bunch of other codes but didn’t write them down.
I checked the the valve cover gaskets and wiring. The drivers side had 2 plugs that had the end missing. The passenger side had a plug melted to the gasket itself.
I replaced the wiring and gaskets. Replaced the injector pressure sensor at the same time.
Checked the codes again and that’s where my first post starts.
Found out my friend had done a buzz test both times he put his code reader on.
The IDM had been replaced in 11/2013 so I was surprised it was bad already. The CPS and glow plug relay was replaced in February this year. Glow plugs were replaced 2 years ago.

Glad to hear that its working fine. question: wher dit you buy the first IDM (2013) and the actual?? and if you dont mind the cost?
I am guessing they take the same info for every order and say the same things. At least it matches the warranty info to the truck. Maybe they fix modified IDMs too? If you learn any more about this I would be interested to hear it.
