So I got a new short throw shifter and decided to make a new shift handle and get rid of my linkage I had to relocate the shifter. My dad had a couple old Mack bulldogs laying around and I decided to make a shift **** out of one of them. So, do you guys think this is cool or lame?
Leave it where it is. Especially if you work at MACK. I think it's neat, and you have a history there.
EDIT--I saw a crazy fool weld (or bolt) one MACK bulldog on top of the other in a very "intimate" position once on the hood of a pickup truck. He was very proud of his creation. I thought he was crazy.
If it's too heavy it could damage the internals of the transmission, similarly to resting your hand on the shift lever, putting pressure on the shift forks and related parts/gears. But beyond that, if it works for you, it works for me. I've seen far crazier stuff used for shift *****.
Way back last century, I worked for a Signal company (Mack was a sister company) so I would stop in the Mack store and buy personalized Mack ashtrays for friends as Christmas presents (everybody smoked back then). I still have mine and one other very rare piece, a Brockway Husky ashtray. Mack bought Them in the '80s if memory serves me. I asked the woman who ran the store if they had any of the Brockway ashtrays for sale and she said they aren't allowed to do anything yet. I told her I wanted one when they went on sale. A few weeks later, I get a box in the mail and in it was my Brockway ashtray with a note saying they would take the payment out of my check (again, I worked for a sister company so they did stuff like that back then.) Very cool mementos.
I remember back in the day when we used full sized pistons and huge dice on the stick, but wouldn't that wear holes in your glove?
Wouldn't a RoadRanger **** work?
My first thought was Lame, but since you work at Mack, it changes the equation.
I would agree with Ross and something like he suggested would be better and that might look better somewhere else.
The important thing, is do you like it there? Since you asked the question, I'm thinking you don't quite like it as much as you thought you would.
Hey Nick,
I like the idea of flying your colors on your truck... personalized just the way you like it.
I'd lean toward a bumper sticker or emblem.... just saying.... that thing looks like it could hurt.
Love your truck, love that you are back in Pa., & you are still with Mrs. Nick.
