Going to be a Ford product in the driveway again. The wife's 2002 DeVille decided to blow a head gasket last week. She wanted another DeVille, but everyone I found was way over priced, or beat to hell.

I also did not want another North Star engine as it's not if, but when the head faster blows.

Long story short, Monday or Tuesday, there will be a 2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature series in the driveway.
Just have to wait for our credit union to cut the check to the car lot.

Well ****!
Ok back to that in a minute. Good stuff first.
Friday, I met up with BJ (BJMayberry) and we walked around the swap meet for several hours. I just picked up a temp sending unit for my truck. It was fun seeing everything there.
There was a 2012 F150 XLT there. I texted a picture to my wife and she wanted me to buy it. I figured I had better wait until my house sells before getting another vehicle. It was nice looking though.

Saturday morning, I met Rich, Brian, and BJ as some undisclosed location. After checking several trucks without finding a good gear ratio, Brian located an 8 lug Dana 60 with 3.54 gears in the middle of a blackberry bush. After some wrenching and a forklift we got the rear loaded in my truck. I really appreciate everyone's help locating this for me. Now on to cleaning it up and swapping it out with my 4.88 rear. I should be able to hit 65 with this new rear.

Now for the not so good news. I was pondering how to get the rear out of my truck. I realized the tailgate can come off without any tools, so I removed that. Sam (my son) says all his buddies are back at college. So I located some loading ramps and set them on the back of the truck, thinking that the two of us can slide it down and get it on some jack stands. As I was standing on the back of the bed looking, I turned and lost my balance and fell to the ground. Unfortunately my shin found the edge of the loading ramps. So an ER trip to get three stitches and I'm back home cussing my lack of coordination. It wasn't too bad but we figured it should be looked at. The ER wasn't busy and it still too 2.5 hours.
First time in my life I have had stitches not in my head.

Well dang it, sorry to hear you took fall. I liked the 2 cable come along big tree limb method that we discussed....but I understand that good plans always can change. A cherry picker would of worked too...

Was nice to meet you, BJ, and always Brian thanks for coming down and hanging out. I hope the swap meet was a good one for you?

I had a good time too. Rich, the radiator I got is the exact same as the one I already have that is too small. doesn’t matter, I’m gonna make it work and even if not I have a good radiator on the cheap. The mirrors I got will bolt directly into the holes used by the current mirrors so a win there.

Harrier, that doesn’t look at all like it felt or will feel good over the coming days. Now you have crissoned the truck with blood though, so you should be good to go. Lol

i ended up spending a couple hours at the swap meet, saw about 2/3 before I gave up and made my way home. Not sure how I feel about it. There was some neat stuff, but a lot looked like over-priced junk that should be in the trash. I heard a couple vendors talking about how they hadn’t sold anything all day. I bought a set of led lights for my car but that’s it.

As soon as I got home I had to go fix my moms mower and then visit with some friends who stopped by. After being up for 22 hours, all I wanted was bed. Finally got rid of everyone and passed out around 10.

Rich, there are also some pix of that radio I was talking about

Good morning everybody. Joe, that's a rather ugly cut. Glad there was a mini get together at the swap meet. I'm fighting a wiring harness some tweaker had to have worked on.

Well cool deal on the mirrors and hope the rad will work somehow. That AM/FM radio should flip on FTE for a little bit. In fact the one I got yesterday (is am only) for a guy might want that one instead? I will give him the option and is he says yes I will pass him to you to work the deal.

Swap meet is always more fun with at least 1 person, Penny and I spent the afternoon and evening in Spg, but only got close to the swap meet driving down I44.

Morning to all.

Morning all.

I'm still in the process of moving everything that is not needed to work on the '71 out of the garage and into the workshop. It's been slow going because I'm determined to get it stashed in there without completely trashing that space. I still want to be able to get in there and use the power tools I have set up out there if I need to. I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel so maybe I'll be finished with it this afternoon. I'm definitely looking at making a scrap metal run next weekend if I'm not on the road to RC or Rich's place.

Enough lolly gagging - there's work to be done.

Yeah, I don’t know what truck they came from or if they are aftermarket, I just thought they were worth keeping. Lol

Cool pictures Brian. I seem to recall that one of my dents had the radio in the bezel like that, but danged if I can remember which one it was. I seem to think it may have been my '79 but I won't swear to it.

The hard part of cleaning the garage is done. All that's left is cleaning the work benches of all the little bits and pieces they've collected over the years. That'll be something to do after work. I'm very much missing the grease monkey, but I'm determined not to just sit around whining about it.

I dusted off my build thread over in the '67-'72 section and brought it up to date...
