Joe AKA Harrier..you might want to save this come reassembly time.

Dana 60 full floater - Rear wheel bearing adjusting nut - 50 -80 ft lbs, back off 1/4 - 3/8 turn. (Check for play).Lock washer - bend a tab or two over the adjusting nut, or use the same bent ones in the same place.
wheel bearing locknut - 90 - 110 ft lbs.
Axle shaft retaining bolts - 40 - 50 ft lbs.

Or...
Between 65 and 75 ft lbs.. spin... tighten.. repeat.. repeat... repeat... until torqued,, then back off 1/4 turn... put on lock washer.. put on second nut.. torque to spec.. then bend tabs over both nuts.. in either direction.. in at least two places on each nut.

2 9/16 thinwall axle nut socket...1/2 inch drive, I bought mine at oriellys out of their catalog.

This one is for those of us with Dana 60/70's. The usual spindle nut set of 3 pieces (a nut, washer with tabs to fold over, and another nut) usually work alright, but there is an easier way to go. Old Ford part # E8TZ-1A124-A, new # 8C3Z1A124A $46.55 EACH is all three of those in one. It is a one piece ratcheting style locknut that all you have to do is torque down and go. It takes a 4 prong style spindle nut socket.

Morning folks.

Has anyone noticed that Photobucket changed their policy and are letting people post photos on the forums again? I was browsing through my old build post and all my pictures were there. I logged into the site and aside from some annoying ads, they seem to be back to business as usual. I guess they didn't make near as much money as they thought they would on subscriptions.

Dennis Carpenter, LMC Truck, and RockAuto should be able to help you out with that.

I'm back from RC's with a truck load of parts and no more excuses for not making progress on the '71. Now it's time to get cracking on this...

Afternoon all. Alan, thanks for the info. I found that nut cheaper in a few locations, but then I would have to get the socket as well.
We will see as I get closer. One drum came off slick. I haven't started on the other one though.

I had the opportunity to meet Rich last night at the car show in Jeff City. Come to find out, he went to JC High School and graduated a year before me. Of course we had 1800-2000 students in the building and I was a socially awkward kid....still am.... He has a nice looking Vette. I then ran to Lowe's to get some pegboard in hopes of better organization of the shop. I had some yard work to do and after that figured it was too hot to do much else in the shop.
The brakes and drum look really good on the side I removed. Gotta start making a parts list.

That was Chip, unless Rich is leading a double life
I'd like to have been at the car show too, but my car is in the shop.

RC - the link to your pictures of the cab mount reinforcement isn't working. Any chance you have the pictures somewhere?

Taa Daa! No sooner than I asked, I found it. LOL What gauge metal did you use on that?

Are you going to make Cars & Coffee in Jeff City on September 1st?

I'm getting up before the rooster to be there.

Alice and Alan spotted rolling south bound on Hwy 13 in the Bolivar vicinity. I was about to say to the wife " look at that nice ol Ford" then I said "there goes Alice and Alan, and still a nice ol Ford". lol

We were coming back from Spg after having the oldest grandson this weekend and the wife thought he would like the Bass Pro Wonders Of Wildlife National Museum. Military discount made just the animal part not to bad. While they did that, I got to make a very slow walk thru the gun/bow museum and the hunting section of the store. Then his mom came and picked him up in Spg.

Yes I am NOT a graduate of JC high school, I graduated from Hollister... across the Taneycomo river from Branson. Dave cool that you got parts, parts are always nice to have.
