FIRE ON A FORD250 TWO DAYS AGO
My sons truck (F250 6.7 Diesel) nearly burned to the ground was it not for volunteer fireman who had 3 full sized fire extinguishers in his barn. Ford is taking no real interest in this and this saddens me. The truck will, in the long run, be repaired but why should a customer have to worry about such a technical exhaust system. His brand new 47G bass boat covered with carbon specks and lost at least 3000K in camping gear which no one will replace. A sad situation and Fords been aware of this and I have a lot of questions and very few answers and as a retired engineer myself, I could have designed a system much better than todays system. There is no way an exhaust system should cost you 5 grand to replace.

Well if you come here to vent be prepared to upload pictures. No insurance adjuster would repair a fully involved vehicle. Personal belongings are covered by renters/homeowners insurance policies. So what's the real story here?

If you or your son have a problem with Ford and the truck, then you need to get a lawyer and settle it. You will get no sympathy here specially with your vague post and no photos nor even an inkling of the actual problem.

file a claim with your insurance. Ford, nor Chevy or Ram will warranty a fire of unknown causes.

I agree, we need someone to invent emissions 3.0. While the 6.7L is far better, I don't know many making it to 250,000 without replacing something related to the EGR, DPF or DEF systems.

I was being facetious. A lone internet troll thinks he can do better than all the engineers that have worked to develop exhaust systems for not only the big 3, but other automakers throughout the world. Uh, yeah.

It appears the truck caught fire near a barn of some sort. Barns generally have tall dry weeds around them somewhere. Never park a diesel over tall dry weeds because the exhaust is hot and it'll catch fire. I've smelled burning bushes around mine before and promptly moved it.
