Truck had new battery, alternator, carb rebuild, etc. Sometimes it won't start, wait awhile and it starts right up. Usually sounds like battery is weak, but it's not. Any ideas?
When does it do this? Only after it's been run awhile or also when it's cold? My truck does something similar, but only after it's been run awhile. In my case, I think it's vapor lock.
sounds a lot like you have a bad spot in your starter windings. I've had the same problem with several vehicles. especially my 91 f 150. after you run it for awhile it sometimes wouldn't turn over fast enough to start it... seemed like a bad battery... many new batteries later i found out it was a starter. Hope this helps.
If this happens after you have driven the truck and shut down, it could be the starter. Some of the FEs with headers tend to fry starters and they display this symptom.

Could be it. Put the starter heat wrap around it and seemed to work good for awhile. It's impossible to get at the starter with the headers wrapped around it. Cost a ton to get it changed due to the headers, since I can't get to it myself.
