I am trying to find a good reliable engine supplier. I have a few in mind but I am also looking at buying used but heard this can be a bit risky sometimes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You won't get much help here if you don't post the year and what engine you have.
sorry guys its a f-250 (2003 I think) with a 7.3 v8 turbo diesel. (apologies this is a project and defiantly not my field of expertise). I posted this on reddit and was suggested "reman" from here https://www.4btengines.com/remanufactured-engines/. could any one shine any light on the difference between used and remanufactured and if these people sell good value for money stuff? (please excuse me if these are silly/novice questions, learning slowly, very slowly)
"Used" means it's a used engine, and is offered up in as-is condition. "Reman" means there's been some form of re-manufacturing. How in-depth that work is depends on the vendor, it came mean as little as tearing down and resealing, or as much as completely stripping and machining the block and building it back up with all new parts.
4BT is a Cummins engine, so that site is already aimed off base from the get go; your truck has an International engine, not a Cummins. They offer two reman International engines, but neither are the one you need.
You might be ahead of yourself thinking you need a new engine if you're unfamiliar with the platform. Don't give up on it without hearing people on here here.
Still, if you're curious call Ashville Engines and ask them to walk you through their 7.3L options, your first question of "used vs reman" will make a lot more sense once you hear it from them: https://ashevilleengine.com/contact-us/
First thing have a mod move this thread down to the 99-03 7.3L forum. you will get the most help that way.
Second. Start way back at the beginning and tell us what all is wrong with the truck. This will help point you in the right direction to get you fixed. Many options are available from a complete engine ready to drop in, long block, short block, or even possibly repair what you have.
