01 escape trans problem after transfer case replacement
I have a 01 with V6 with awd. A few weeks ago I did routine maintenance and replaced the lower a arms and sway bar links to get rid of the rattles in the front. After I got it all back together all seamed fine and then the Transfer case or as some call it the PTO for the rear drive started really whining. I purchased a replacement unit out of a low mile escape. I finished up the job yesterday took it for a ride and found it was a couple quarts low on trans fluid I topped It off and it was great at first, but my 3rd stoplight after a long stretch of road it didn't want to drive away. I got it back to the driveway and the fluid is at the right level and nothing obvious wrong. In 4wd auto mode it seems like there is a gear not made all the way but if you select 4x4 mode it has no problem. I can't think of a way to word it to look for my problem to search similar troubles others have had. I was just wondering if someone here may have ran into this problem.
The trans is good 👍 yay. The problem is the RBC on the front of the rear axle. The RBC is what makes the power transmitted from the transmission go to the rear axle and gives the choice of awd and 4wd. When you put the truck in gear the driveshaft spins until you select 4wd. I have yet to find a rebuilt part listed anywhere.
