Hey guys. I have a 76 F250 with a 4-speed manual.. Just wondering what model trans is this..is it pretty durable? Feels pretty solid. Also this truck is 4WD and the 4wd shifter is like stuck where it is. It wont budge. It has some play in it but wont move to 2wd or 4 wheel low etc... Is the linkage frozen or something crazy like that? Im guessing its stuck in 4wd because it has manual locking hubs so all i need to do to free it out of 4wd is to go out and free the front hubs. Dont know how good it is to drive it like that but i dont have a choice.
Probably a New Process 435 Trans. Purter near bullet proof. Try an adjustment on the transfer case and some lube. Is there oil in it? That is also a very stout transfer case. Gear dirven. Real hard to kill that old Ford running gear!

All I hear is Iron Maiden playing in the background when I think of this drivedtrain hahaha. I did see that forum after i posted but thanks for the replay. So it is gear driven instead of chain..Thats a good thing def solid. What rear is in this also. I was told its a Dana series.

The rear should be a Dana 60, the front might be either a Dana 44 or a Dana 60.
The tranny should be the NP435, the transfer case is probably the gear driven NP205. Like Olford says, all that stuff is bulletproof and pretty hard to kill. My guess is that the truck sat for a while and someone left it in 4hi. You might be able to free it up, you might not. The linkage could also be bent. Crawl under and take a look.

Thanks man. ya i dunno if it sat in 4HI or not abd i tried puttin all my mite into freeing it up..No luck. Is it bad that it stays in 4 wheel but i have the front hubs free? then drive it on a sunny day?
Where do I look to see if they are Dana 44's or 60's
