Image Dynamics your thoughts?
I just installed a Image Dynamics 10" IDQ10V.2 D2 in a SUBBOX.NET downfiring box (.55 cu ft), Pioneer 8500 CD player, MA AUDIO M186i amp. It hits hard, but its a little distorted listening to bands like Korn, System of a Down, Metallica, etc.... Could it be the amp? Would a better amp make it sounds better?

Yeah, check the box for a leak. Check around the gasket/flange where the sub is mounted, and check the points at which the box is glued/screwed together. Also, recheck your gains...and crossovers. Also, how much clearance between the sub and the floor? I'm hoping it's at least 3 inches. I'm thinking it's your amp clipping the signal. Double check the inside and outside of the boxes joints. Reseal them with some liquid nails, just to be safe.
BTW, what is your crossover (LPF) set at and what "position" is your gain/sensitivity set to?

I checked all the suggestion and found the X over was set to full, simply switching it to LPF made a ton of difference. I am still tinkering with the gains ect.. Thanks for the help guys
