I am finishing my new wheel bearing/brake job and I need to bleed my power steering system. I leaked a TON of PS fluid out when I turned the wheel to access the knuckle bolts with the engine off :/. I tried to fill up the reservoir with fluid and turn the wheel back and forth but fluid just leaks out. Can I just fill the res up temporarily and take the truck down to a close Valvoline oil change place and have them flush the PS system? Will this essentially bleed it using more advanced tools? I know this is the punk way out but I want to get it right with minimal time investment.
OK, update - I decided to give in an do the bleed according to the Ford shop manual . I purchased a vacuum kit and ford PS brake adapter for the kit - it should be here tomorrow. Total cost 100 bucks or so and much better piece of mind that I am doing it "right".
