97 expy radio question

hey guys, this might be a foolish question but i'v heard a few differnt things. Does the 97 xlt have a stock amp? the thing is I have a sub box laying around and was wondering if I could hook it up to my radio w/out an amp... (its a new head unit if that matters) thanks for any info

Matters on the Radio package you got, if theres a SUB in the rear or the Mach system you do. Mines a XLT with a 6 cd changer in the console and I did not.

Mach systems (and therefore rear subs) were available as an option on the Eddie Bauer only.
