Interior color not the same as exterior

I was going to touch up my steering column and ordered some Caribbean Turquoise touch up pant. It matches the exterior quite well. Unfortunately I didn't realize the steering column is quite a bit darker. The steering column perfectly matches the SMS auto reproduction seat cover, so it appears to be the original darker green/turquoise not Caribbean Turquouise. My question is: What color green is this so I can try to find a color match?

I am guessing it is Dynasty green as it likely was used for all shades of green interiors.

That's it!! For future reference it is PPG # 12853.

Thanks a million Ranger! Now I have to special order yet another can of touch up paint, but a PO had painted the steering wheel Caribbean Turquoise, so it needs to be re-done also.

This is always an interesting topic. For 1965 and 1966 Custom Cab F100/F250 2WD and 1966 F100 4WD they painted the column, flange, bowl and steering wheel to match the seat upholstery.

My Sauterne Gold (car color) and Wimbledon White tu-tone paint had a column, flange, bowl and steering wheel painted the standard Sahara Beige, which goes good with the Parchment seats and console lid.

So does that mean my interior code U81 should have a Sahara beige steering column. Currently it is white with a black wheel but the truck was heavily butchered over the decades.

I tried doing a search on "interior colors" and it pulled up several threads, but I wasn't able to find the information I was looking for. Sometimes you just have to ask for help. I ordered a rattle can from Express Paint. It has to be custom mixed so it will be at least a week before it delivers. Excellent information Chad!

My 65 F100 4x was Springtime Yellow. Dash and column was what I assumed was Wimbledon White. IS that correct? I plan to repaint it Winboldon white and use 71 Candy Apple Red for the exterior and interior and do the cab roof in Wimbledon white as well. Not factory for 65 4x4 but think it will look good.

I made a slight change to my post above (in bold) to indicate the 1966 F100 4WD was treated like the 2WD in this case.

1965 F100 4WD was same as 1965 F250 4WD and 1966 F250 4WD. If Standard Cab then column, bowl and steering wheel would be all black. If Custom Cab then the steering wheel itself would be changed out to white.

Otherwise, Wimbledon White on a portion of the dash would be correct on Custom Cab (two-tone instrument panel).

One correction to what that says, however, no horn rings on 1965 F100/250 4WD and 1966 F250 4WD.

Any idea if that steering column white was Wimbledon White like the dash and exterior cab?
Edit: I see you answered in the next post! Thanks...

I would assume so, yes. There were only about 6 colors that they used for the column parts and steering wheel, no matter which model or exterior color, so to have any chance of a match I'd say yes.

Raven Black
Sahara Beige
Marlin Blue
Dynasty Green
Rangoon Red
Wimbledon White

I'm having a hard time imagining Caribbean Turquoise with the Parchment interior. Seems like an unlikely combination. Did you have a picture of your warranty plate? I don't think I've ever actually seen it.

I wish I had the same sort of information for 1966 or 1965. This is 1964 and you can see that "B" color code was only available with the Green Vinyl (Standard Cab) or Green Woven Plastic (Custom Cab), excepting the Heavy-Duty Black Vinyl.

If I recall yours was just A7 - two digit DSO - so not a special order - but sounds like a real unique truck.

Sorry if that was confusing - for 1965 F100 4WD the steering column would always be black. Only the steering wheel would be changed to white if it was a Custom Cab.

Chad
oh your right about the column. I’d forgotten mine was black with a white wheel.
