I tow the Cardinal in my signature with a Demco 21K autoslide and my 2016 F350 SRW. It is also a wide body and has similar specs to what you posted. Love the hitch, works great, no issues. It is heavy though. I use a harbor freight chain hoist to move it in/out of my bed. Truck works fine, my Cardinal does have scalloped corners, and I couldnt tell you if I *needed* the slider or not, but it is my first 5th wheel. My opinion is that IF you decide to get a slider, get an autoslide so that you dont have to think about engaging it. Cant speak to the 2017 specifically, but in my 2016, I did add a set of Timbrens to remove the 1-2" of sag. Other than that tows like a dream.
Thanks Dave, I to have a hoist in my garage as I know the auto sliders are heavy. I was looking to see if anybody uses an Anderson hitch with a Pinnical 5th wheel and how far they can turn with it. The Anderson is a LOT lighter than any slider...
If you look below (in my sig. line) you'll notice my setup, long bed, 42' 5th, Anderson hitch.
A few months ago I turned this setup sharp enough that it pulled out my safety brake-line wire. I don't believe I was at 90 degrees but it was quite sharp (and uphill).
I'm towing my set up in sig with an Andersen Ultimate and really like it. No issues at all with the hitch or truck pulling the Momentum.
Looks close what we are going to tow. Couple of questions if you don't mind...Do you know how much room you have between the cab and cap while turning? Do you have the connection coupler turned towards the front like "normal" or turned around to give you extra clearance of the pin box to bed rail?
What is normal? Coupler turned towards the front adds clearance, used with a short bed. Coupler turned towards the rear allows the 5th to come closer to the cab, not a problem with a long bed.
