ZF5 (F350) Transmission Specifications Identification Wanted "Help"...

Hello fellow enthusiasts.
I am in need of assistance to identify the similarities, or differences, between the Ford ZF5 Heavy Duty 5-speed transmission, namely, focusing on the gasoline versions behind the InLine 300 cu.in. 6-cylinder and the 302/351 Windsor SBF V8 version.

Let me provide the 'back story' so you might provide me beneficial insoght, if possible:
I am considering installing a Cummins 4BT Diesel in my 1963 F100 'Unibody' pickup.
The engine I am acquiring came from a Grumman Aluminum Panel Van with the Ford transmission adapter and a factory installed C-6 automatic.. I can utilize the Ford adapter and I intend to research either an C-6 option, and AOD option or the ZF5 option.
In my research I understand that both the Ford I-6 (300 cu.in.) engine and the 5.0L/5.8L Windsor engines share the same bellhousing bolt pattern. Which one is more desireable to use with a Cummins 4BT diesel in my '63 Unibody?

At this time, I have located two Ford F350 trucks:
1. 1992 F350 with I-6 fuel injected (300 cu.in.) and ZF5.
2. 1995 F350 with 5.8L fuel injected V8 and ZF5.

Can someone tell the similarities and differences between these 2 transmissions before I attempt to remove them from each vehicle to physically inspect in detail.
Is one stronger than the other?
Did they have inherent weaknesses?
Were there factory 'upgrades/improvements' to consider?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance and advice,
Pete

Both of them are the ZF5-s42 and are identical to each other.
BOTH have internal slave cylinder
BOTH have PTO adaptability
BOTH with do exactly The same thing
Both are rated for 420 ft-lbs and will take more like 800ft-lbs before giving you and issues

Thank you Diesel_Brad for your reply.
One other thought I have after my Post was entered is related to the gearset.
Can you tell me what gears are provided for 1st-through-5th?
Also, are the gears identical for the whole ZF5-s42 family of transmissions (6 Cylinder, 5.0L/5.8L, Diesel), and are the internals more 'beefy' for the diesel version? I know I must focus on the gas version (I-6, 5.0/5.8) but my curiosity toward learning something here is getting the best of me.
Many thanks in advance, Pete
