Power Pulleys

Can power pulleys hurt an engine? Has anyone had pulleys on their truck for a long period of time without alternator or cooling problems? Has anyone experienced problems caused by power pulleys?

I have A small crank pulley on my 5.0 Mustang. The only drawback that I have seen is the a/c isn't as cold at and idle and the volts drop off under about 900 rpm.
