Hey! I might buy this truck from my grandparents. They are a few states away, so I was wondering if anyone can help me identify what year truck this might be? It's an F350 diesel at least 10 years old.
Ok thank you! I was hoping it wasn't a 6.0L because I've heard about issues with them. If anyone can be more definite on the year that would be great, but I figured it was between a 2003-2007.

It’s actually in the 99-04 range and judging by the tailpipe it’s not a 6.0 so it’s at least a 03 or older. You may want to ask them, what year it is and maybe have them send you a picture of the vin sticker inside the driver door. Or atleast tell you what the vin number is. It looks like a nice truck not wild about those decals on the side though.

I am flying out for a visit in October ER, but my grandfather is 91 with Alzheimer's and my grandmother is 87 and had polio, so I don't want to bug them too much right now. Decals are super funny but it would be nice to have my grandpa's truck in the family.
Are there any problems if it has sat for 6 years or so besides just dead batteries and an oil change?

After six years of sitting, I’d change all the fluids and filters (including the air - mice love them) and even the tires. Might have electrical issues if rodents chewed through any wires, but you’ll find out about that if things don’t work.
Yeah that's interesting. They have had people offer them $10k before, so I was going to offer $12k and plan on tires and $2k of maintenance. I'll bet that truck doesn't have 30k miles on it because when he bought it he also bought a beater truck to drive around town.
Around $15k for a low miles truck seems like a good deal, but maybe not because I'd have to sell my car and the cost of a diesel truck is quite a bit higher than the cost of a smaller wagon.

miles on a truck like this generally aren’t a big deal. I definitely wouldn’t be close to double figures for that truck with as old as it is.
Hard to tell from the picture but the tail pipe looks too small for a diesel. If it is a diesel and in the '03-06 range, if very early (or older than '03) it could be a 7.3 otherwise it would be a 6.0. A 6.0 can be a good engine but you do need to do your homework on it and keep up with the maintenance.
