Will my E99 PCM run a 2001 7.3 engine without issue?
Getting ready to swap engines in my truck. Will my older early bird pcm run a newer 2001 engine without issue? Will the different HPOP and AD injectors be okay?
I’m running a 2001 PCM in my E99, from my research you can only run a 2001 or earlier in a E99…so If I we’re a betting man I’d say it would work the same way in reverse meaning; I don’t think it would work. The E99’s came with 130 injectors the 99.5+ came with 140’s, (guessing here, others may know for sure) I would guess the PCM would tell the injectors how long to stay open meaning only 130 vs 140 of fuel, then add all the other differences HPOP etc. The other thing of course is make sure it’s auto to auto etc. Hope this helps, someone with more knowledge will show up I’m sure...:drinks:
If that is the case does the pcm know if the truck is ext cab or crew cab? Or does it just need the year and transmission type to be right? Also confirmed the engine is out of a 2001 truck.
Injectors can be swapped in, AB/AD with no other changes necessary. The only other thing that would be/could be an issue would be the IAH but I doubt that you are looking to make that work.
